  • NOLA can present some security problems, mainly in more remote places, as in the case of not so touristy neighborhoods.

  • The default voltage is 110V.

  • Be careful! It rains a lot in New Orleans! During the summer (long, hot, humid and oppressive), the temperature can reach 30ºC, and in the winter (short, mild, dry and with strong winds), it can vary from 10ºC to 20ºC.

  • The season most recommended by residents to visit the city is April/May and October/November.

  • As it rains a lot in the city, it is important to always carry a raincoat.

  • As there is a great interest on cemeteries and supernatural things, there are several guided tours of these places. One of the most recognized is made by Save our Cemeteries, an organization that aims to help preserve these spaces and the history of New Orleans. Want to know more, visit the website.

  • The city has two official websites, one with information about what to do, places to stay, where to eat, cultural calendar and much more, and another by the Government.

  • New Orleans has several festivals throughout the year, some of them are:

  1. Mardi Gras: Carnival party in New Orleans, takes place from Epiphany to Shrove Tuesday (similar to Brazilian Carnaval).
