With European influence, surrounded by the mountains of Serra da Mantiqueira, the city in the interior of São Paulo State is a perfect stage to enjoy the cold. Campos do Jordão offers attractions for all tastes, from lovers of extreme sports to a quiet walk, and trips for the whole family or couples.
Let's check out the 1st day of our Itinerary!?!!
Vista Chinesa: formerly called Belvedere, Vista Chinesa is a viewpoint that provides a spectacular view of Vale do Lajeado, its mountains, native vegetation and villages. Despite being considered a tourist attraction, there is not much to do other than enjoy the view, there are only a few stands selling sweets, sugarcane juice, jams, handicrafts and warm clothes. Located on Rodovia Floriano Rodrigues Pinheiro motorway, close to the portal of Campos do Jordão, it has free admission and free parking, and on weekends and holidays it is very busy.
Portal de Campos do Jordão: considered one of the city's business cards, the Portal, reopened in 2017, welcomes tourists arriving via Rodovia Floriano Rodrigues Pinheiro. Its architecture is inspired by the Swiss Alps, and is one of the most photographed attractions in the city. A call center, toilet for the disabled and a baby changing room can be found on site.
Estação Emílio Ribas: inaugurated in 1924, Estação Emílio Ribas was named in honor of the public health doctor Emílio Ribas. For many years, the station served for the transportation of patients with respiratory problems to the hospital in Campos do Jordão. From 1980, the railroad started to be used only for tourism. Today, it has trains that operate in the stretch of the mountain, the Mirante Train (Campos do Jordão to Santo Antônio do Pinhal) and the Serra Train (Pindamonhangaba to Campos do Jordão), and that operate within the city (Tourist Tram). The station also has gardens, playgrounds, craft shops and a lake. For more information, call (Brazilian code is +55) (12) 3644-7408 or (12) 3644-7409, or visit the website.
Vila Capivari: It is an upscale neighborhood and the main tourist center of the city, which began to develop in 1920. Today, with a European style, Vila do Capivari concentrates a wide variety of shops and restaurants, being the main gastronomic center of the city. Considered the most charming village in Brazil, you can find the Church of São Benedito (located in the square of the same name), a handicraft fair, the restaurant Baden Baden (considered a reference in the city), Iceland (a bar where everything is made of ice), Pastelão do Maluf (one of the most traditional snack options in the city; Maluf comes from the name of the politician Paulo Maluf, who was photographed eating in this bakery and appeared in various media vehicles so as to promote it). And during the winter, the Campos do Jordão International Winter Festival takes place with several cultural presentations.
Now tell me what you think of this city!??!?!?!
