Getting encharted on our 3rd day in San Francisco

Shall we keep going through our list of next tourist sights?


  • Battery Lancaster: Built to provide seaward defenses against enemy ships, this fortwas used between 1898 to 1918, and got its name from lieutenant-coronel James M. Lancaster, from the 3rd Artillery and veteran in the Civil War. The site is located in the ‘The Presidio’ region of the city, and has the best view of the Golden Gate Bridge.


  • Crissy Field: Once used by the Ohlone people (indigenous group from North California) as a fishing area, it was taken by Spanish conquistadors that baptized it as El Presidio, using the land for agriculture and cattle. In 1846, the US Army tookcontrol and used the region for sewage disposal and draining?, later on filling it with concrete and asphalt and turning it into an airfield (landing zone for aircraft). Then in 1994, the Service of National Parks officially became responsible for the area along with? the National Park Conservation of Golden Gate, restoring the territory and opening it for the public as the Crissy Field Center. Nowadays,thesite is an urban national park with a great view of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island, great beaches and pick-nick spots.   • Walt Disney Family Museum: A museum dedicated entirely to the life and work of Walt Disney, first opened in 2009 by his daughter and grandson. Divided in 10 permanent galleries with photographs, videos and personal objects that tell the Disneystory in chronological order: Early Beginnings; The Move to Hollywood; Exploring New Horizons; The Transition into Features; New Success & Greater Ambitions; Patriotic Contributions; Postwar Rebuilding; Walt & the Natural World; Disneyland & Beyond; Remembering Walt Disney. In the museum, there is also a Disney shop with exclusive products, and a cafeteria. It’s located in an old block of The Presidio, near the Golden Gate Bridge, open from Wednesdays to Mondays, from 10a.m. to 6p.m. It is not allowed to take pictures inside of the galleries, only at the first one. Also there’s a charge for entry:


Adults: US$25; Adults over 65: US$20; Students: US$20; Kids from 6 to 17: US$15; Kids under 5 are free to enter
