Light... Camera... Campos do Jordão

And to finish another Let’s Travel destination... let’s go Clapperboard!!


Campos do Jordão was the scene of some Brazilian films and documentaries! Have you ever watched any of these?? So let’s go... LIGHT. CAMERA. ACTION!


Floradas da Serra

Released: 1954

Plot: Lucília, a woman tired of the pleasures of the elegant world, decides to rest in Campos do Jordão. However, when making the medical check-up visit, she discovers that she has tuberculosis. But she cannot bear the treatment at the clinic. While waiting to return to São Paulo, she meets Bruno, who makes her miss the train and they start a romance. However, Lucília's passion quickly consumes her health, while Bruno recovers and begins to take an interest in Olivia, another patient at the clinic. Lucília ends up alone, in the clinic, with her memories.


The film was set in the Hotel Toriba, Rancho Alegre, Hospital S-2 (already destroyed) and the Boa Vista Palace.


Ravina

Released: 1959

Plot: In a large decaying mansion, at the beginning of the 20th century, in the interior of Paraná, lived the beautiful Ravina and her uncle Daniel, the last remnants of an ancient lineage of Brazilian aristocrats that is now on the verge of ruin. Ravina lives a lonely life, forgotten in the family mansion. However, the prospects improve with the arrival of Márcio, an engineer who wins the girl's heart.


Some scenes were recorded at a location near Pico do Itapeva.


As Armas

Released: 1969

Plot: César is 35 years old, poor, uneducated and finds himself in a situation where he cannot enjoy the things he would most like to have in life: money, luxury and lots of women. Disgusted by the inequalities that prevent him from reaching the level he so desires, César decides to join a clandestine revolutionary organization, led by a millionaire. Even as starting to develop more important functions, he feels that he is still treated as another subordinate. When he discovers that his companions keep large amounts of money, his resentment and greed start to make him act on his own.








Clube das Infiéis

Released: 1974

Plot: To spice up the marriage, Lucienne seeks out the Infidels' Club, but the statute requires a lover on the candidate's résumé. Determined to go ahead with her plan, the girl pretends she has an affair, but a series of confusions ensue when she insinuates that her partner is the husband of one of the directors.


Essas Deliciosas Mulheres

Released: 1979

Plot: A woman unexpectedly falls in love with a successful businessman. However, after leaving her husband, she finds her new love in the arms of a girl. Disillusioned, she leaves for Rio de Janeiro to unwind. It is in the city that the girl finally finds happiness and fulfills herself sexually.


The film has some scenes recorded in Campos do Jordão.












Uma Estranha História de Amor

Released: 1979

Plot: Upon arriving in a city in the interior of São Paulo, the teacher Maria becomes interested in the boy Daniel. What she doesn't know is that the boy is in constant psychological conflict and that, at the same time as he gets involved with her, he maintains an affair with Diogo, one of the cruelest boys in town.


Caminhos da Mantiqueira (documentary)

Released: 2011

Caminhos da Mantiqueira is a 79-minute documentary that presents the life, nature, stories and sports of Serra da Mantiqueira. For the production, a team traveled to almost 40 municipalities in 35 days, with the objective of gathering testimonials from people who live in the region of this huge mountain range that divides the states of Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and São Paulo.









Histórias de Vida da Montanha Magnífica (documentary)

Released: 2012

The documentar rescues presents facts, memories and reports of people who lived or live in Campos do Jordão, in order to tell the history of the city from its idealization, foundation and construction to the development of the tourism industry.
