Paraty was the scene of several films, short films, soap operas, mini series and vídeo clips. Have you watched any of these movies?? So let’s go... LIGHTS. CAMERA. ACTION!



Brasil ano 2000

Release: 1968

Plot: Year 2000. Brazil was partially devastated by the Third World War. A family of immigrants arrives in a small town, which they call “Me Esqueci”(I've forgotten). The trio are recruited by an indigenist to pretend to be Indians during a general's visit. In the dilemma between integrating into the system or preserving individual freedom, the family is heading towards disintegration while the city prepares for the launch of a space rocket.


The film was recorded mainly in the city of Paraty, having some scenes that were shot in the city of Rio de Janeiro.

A Moreninha

Release: 1970

Plot: Based on the work of Joaquim Manuel de Macedo. As soon as Augusto sets foot on Paquetá Island, in Rio de Janeiro in the 1840s, his life changes completely: he, who had never been in love, falls in love with Carolina, a friend's cousin and better known in the region as "the Moreninha". However, a promise made in childhood can jeopardize Augusto's passion.

Como Era Gostoso o Meu Francês

Release: 1972

Plot: Member of a mission that aims to reach France Antarctica, a French colony established in Guanabara Bay, Jean and other fellow travelers rebel and are sentenced to death by their superiors. The adventurer manages to escape by swimming to the mainland, where he encounters Tupiniquim Indians. Soon the colony is attacked by Indians from the Tupinambá tribe, who end up imprisoning him and condemning him to death, as they think Jean is Portuguese. Now the Frenchman has only eight days to live as he awaits his execution in an anthropophagic ritual.

Gabriela

Release: 1983

Plot: Bahia, 1925. One of the worst droughts in the history of the Northeast forces Gabriela to move to Ilhéus. Being herself a migrant who with her beauty and sensuality conquers everyone, especially Nacib, owner of the most popular bar in the city, who employs Gabriela to work in his house and with whom he has an affair. Their relationship gets so intense that they get married, but everything seems to fall apart when Gabriela is unfaithful to him with the biggest conqueror in town. At the same time, a "colonel" will be tried for having killed his wife with her lover. The other "colonels" think he has to be exonerated, as there was a strong motive for the crime.


The film has scenes shot in Paraty and Garopaba (Santa Catarina).

O Beijo da Mulher Aranha

Release: 1986

Plot: In a prison in South America, two prisoners share the same cell. One is a homosexual and is in prison for immoral behavior and the other is a political prisoner. The first, to escape the sad reality that surrounds him, invents films full of mystery and romance, but the other tries to remain as politicized as possible in relation to the moment he lives. But this coexistence makes the two men understand and respect each other.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1

Release: 2011

Plot: Bella Swan and Edward Cullen finally get married, in a ceremony attended by friends and family. The couple decides to spend their honeymoon in Rio de Janeiro and, soon after, Bella becomes pregnant. What they didn't expect was that the pregnancy would be so complicated, putting the life of the baby and the mother at risk.


The couple’s honeymoon scene was filmed at Saco Mamanguá and at the Iriri waterfall.
